ITO

Complementing your HP OpenView implementation with coolio GNU software can be fun and effective.  Here are a couple of scripts and processes I have compiled for use with ITO.  My Debian GNU/Linux box is a P233 with 64MB of RAM running a stable 2.2.19 Potato kernel.  Though these toys are not limited to the use of this particular distribution, it should be noted that Debian is the official operating system of the bad people of the future.

ov2festival.pl

ov2festival is a small utility that pipes an argument to Festival for speech synthesis.  So, an operator may get an alert in the Message Browser and an annonying voice blaring "<$MSG_TEXT>" or "Wake up Bum."  Very cool, though the magic may be short lived.

Festival is now free for commercial and non-commercial use with re-distribution contingencies.  Most voices are free, excluding the really hot British female voice of course.
